Homewell celebrates International Day of People with Disability

December 3 is a day of global significance as we celebrate the International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD). This annual event is a call to action for increasing awareness, understanding, and acceptance of people with disabilities within our communities. The theme for IDPwD 2023, ‘United in action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for, with and by persons with disabilities,’ sets a powerful agenda for the year.

This year’s theme emphasises a collective effort to create a more equitable world for people with disabilities, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals. The SDGs, a set of 17 objectives set for 2030, aim to foster a more just and sustainable world for all. The inclusion and active participation of people with disabilities in achieving these goals are crucial.

At Homewell, we’re embracing the 2023 theme of IDPwD by launching a 12-month initiative inspired by recommendations from the Australian Government. Throughout the year, we’ll be sharing stories and insights from people with disabilities, engaging in community discussions, and focusing on how we can all contribute towards realising the SDGs for, with, and by persons with disabilities.
